Tegan Binford - CMHC-Intern
Tegan graduated with her Master of School Counseling psychology from Utah State University in 2021. Teaching high school Psychology, Sociology, and Health classes lead to a desire to serve adolescents in a more official counseling capacity. After serving in education for 14 years as a Youth in Custody Mentor, SpEd paraprofessional, Academic Coach, Teacher, and School Counselor, Tegan has begun a Clinical Mental Health Counseling certificate program through Rocky Mountain University. Tegan is serving as a CMHC-Intern at Healing Paths, Inc., working with adults and teens.
Following her own challenging lived experiences and personal growth and development, Tegan has developed a passion for client-centered, interpersonal, collaborative, and trauma-informed care. Her values and practice are grounded in empathy, safety, inclusivity, equity and access to quality care, and on-going professional development. A critical tenant that guides Tegan’s therapeutic practice and personal relationships is authentic connection and unconditional positive regard. Through this total acceptance, in a genuine and empathetic environment, individuals and families can truly feel empowered to improve their lives and relationships. Tegan helps clients make sense of their emotions, thinking, and behaviors in a safe and challenging space to garner healthy and intentional choices on the path to healing and recovery. Together, we will foster greater growth, connectedness, and lives of joyful meaning and purpose! As Naeem Callaway encouraged, “Sometimes the smallest step in the right direction ends up being the biggest step of your life. Tip-toe if you must, but take the step.”
